Toruk – The First Flight is Cirque du Soleil’s touring production, inspired by the film Avatar. Our brief was to create the set which needed to be as magical and enchanting in real life as it is in the film. That’s where Ingenious Structures design team came and created a completely bespoke and impeccably designed 12-metre tall by 12-metre wide inflatable tree trunk structure that would become centre stage on the Avatar inspired set.
Given the unique design and size of the structure, the challenge was to ensure that it was architecturally viable and strong enough to allow up to 10 acrobats to bounce, flip and dance off it during shows.
With the perfect blend of creativity and innovation, we produced an inflatable structure that surpassed expectations. Beautifully designed, structurally sound and durable, the set has gone on tour with the Cirque du Soleil and has been a huge success.
